| We left Kokar this morning with some heavy winds, willing
to try mooring near Tektash Island where a 5th century BC lies, but the seas were to rough
to anchor and dive. We continued on to Sarpedere Koyu, where an earlier survey found
some ship remains. Tufan and Yasar found two wrecks in only 10 meters of water, one with Byzantine amphoras and one where they could only see the large ballast stones used by ancient mariners to lower the center of gravity on their ships. After lunch, Berta and Tufan dove on the other side of the bay's entrance and found nothing but few broken shards. After their dive, Yasar and I returned to the site. It is very shallow, and the sunken ship probably would have been salvaged soon after it sank, so there is probably little of interest for excavation. Still, it is our first newly discovered wreck, and we want to document it. |

| Yasar found a stone anchor stock close to the wreck , which is interesting since it is very different from the ones in the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology. | ||
