crawd1.JPG (20369 bytes) A group of members of  T I N A will be visiting us for the next few days. T I N A is an Istanbul based non-profit organization that is being founded under the direction of Ayhan Sicimoglu.  The organization's goal is to support underwater archaeological research in Turkey. The main purpose of their visit is to have firsthand experience with I N A 's survey and wreck documentation efforts.

T I N A  director Ayhan Sicimoglu, who is also an executive director of  I N A, arrived Wednesday with his close friend, Murat Agirnasli. It is a pleasure to have them with us aboard the Virazon. Ayhan is as entertaining as ever. If he is not busy telling one of his recent jokes, leading to warm laughter, he is busy singing, spreading happiness around.   Dr. Sezgin Gokmen also came  on Wednesday, joining the team as a veteran; he began volunteering on I N A projects more than 20 years ago.

On Thursday other founding T I N A  members joined us on their boats: Caroline and Mustafa Koc (and their pretty daughter Esra), Cristina and Engin Bayraktaroglu, Halil Aktay, Serdar Angin and Sabit Akca.

On Friday the group was completed, especially with the presence of  I N A  founder Dr. George F. Bass and his wife Ann, who came together with Zeynep Sicimoglu, Jasemin Pirinccioglu, Seyit Karagozoglu and Harun Ozdas (representative of the Ministry of Culture); except for Seyit, they all stay on the Virazon.  (Check our VISITORS page)

We put a first dive on the wreck at the entrance of  Kokar Liman (see previous article)
