This morning we said good bye to our beloved "barbecue beach," (properly known as Cilka Koyu), until next year. We spent most of the day exploring the site of the Classical Wreck. Tufan once again passed through the narrow strait between the mainland and the Tektas Island, which was as thrilling as the first time. | |

Once at location, a small group
headed by Dr. George F. Bass went ashore to check the possibilities of building a
camp on the rocky cliff . They came back disappointed; they do not think it is
possible. After that we went with the Virazon to see what other possibilities we
have in the area. Cilka bay and the Sarpedere Koyu are two of them, but still they are too
far away from the wreck site. Not satisfied with any of the sites, Dr. Bass will
take his time to decide on the final location of the camp. After lunch we headed to Sigacik to part with our guests who have been visiting us for the last few days. At 4:00 PM they left Virazon and headed back to their daily lives. We hope they had a good time and enjoyed their stay with us. |

| Now, we are again by ourselves, even fewer than before, since Uluc, Jevon and Yasar left a few days ago. The only permanent addition since then has been Harun Ozdas of Bodrum Museum who joined us to replace Yasar Yildiz as the government represantative. After almost a month out at sea, finally we are heading back to Bodrum. We feel a bit tired, slightly homesick but content and happy with the results and accomplishments of the September campaign. We wished we had found more shipwrecks, but that is a feeling we experience at the end of each campaign regardless of what we find. | ||
